Power Systems Event Analysis

Effective event analysis is essential for understanding power system disturbances and improving system reliability. This Tech Talk, presented by Jacobus (JC) Theron, will explore methodologies for analyzing event data, along with the tools used in this process—such as P&C settings, event records, waveform captures, data loggers, fault reports, and system drawings (SLDs and 3-line diagrams). The session will also cover recommended protection and control settings that enhance the quality and clarity of event analysis. To bring these concepts to life, JC will walk through 10 real-world case studies, applying the analysis methodology across a range of applications from industrial systems to transmission networks.
